... so over the Labour day weekend we finally made it to the Carnegie Museum of Arts.... after spending a refreshing three hours walking through the numerous art galleries  we  eventually finished our art tour with the purchase of few art prints which are waiting to be hung on our  living-room-wall..

hopefully i'll be able to update you with a photograph of our newly decorated wall soon enough...

p.s: these days i am a little absorbed with the excitement of new-parents-to-be... so i have been all busy knitting hat-booty-mitten sets for our little one and a friend's baby who is also due around the same time as our sonny... so catch you later. till then good-bye and take care...

Gulacha Ganapati

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi !! 

It is the day when people all over India celebrate Vighna Vinashak Ganesha, the remover of all obstacles. I had wished to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in my own way.... so throughout the day i laboured over a piece of art of the almighty. but my portrait of Ganesha did not get done in time.. so i had to defer posting it for a while....

But while i was on FB I came across this awesome Gulacha Ganapati  by Shriram Kelkar.... A murti of Ganapati carved out from Jaggery !! Starting from scratch, it apparently took Shriram 8 - 10 hours to finish this amazing art work of the almighty !!!! He mentions that carving the ideal from gur is a family tradition that he has been following with much dedication. His wife who carved out Ganesha's vahan, the Mushika, mentions that as Gur(jaggery) tends to get soft and starts melting, Shriram had to constantly use rice flour to keep his hands from getting sticky. Kudos to Shriram and his wife !! this ideal certainly reflects your patience, talent and immense devotion to Lord Ganesha !!

Hello !!

Hello !! with the shifting and all,- a lot has been on my mind for a while. however i haven't had the time to sit at the desk and write. so... how have you been ?  though a little weather-beaten i have been going fine. gradually learning to cope with the snow and the cold... and while at home i have been rummaging through the photo folders searching for the perfect images to frame for our living room wall..... and that brought me to this set of photographs which my sis-in-law had taken..... these were taken at an exhibition of Sculptures by Mr. Maria Anthony Raj at Sumukha Gallary, Chennai.

many many happy faces surrounding them...  are making me soo...ooo happy  and gay !!

Art Love...

me and husband are extremely fond of art. we visit art galleries whenever we can and often return with a bundle of art-prints ..... besides others, we both have developed a special appreciation for the strokes of Van Gogh and the forms of  Hussain.... so yesterday when while surfing online I came across this art event where serigraphs of Maqbool Fida Hussain and Sayed Haider Raza would be exhibited, I just knew where I would be this evening !   ... and so at 5pm today i and a friend were at Sumukha Gallery,  glaring at a wall with The British Raj at one end, Asoka at the other and an array of Hussain's Kerala-Jaisalmer and horses in between....

Since our print-collection does not have a Hussain yet I was hoping that today i would find one... but serigraphs were all that they had.... i however did not return empty-hand... for the gracious lady at the gallery handed to me a booklet of limited editions which had this message by Hussain in it....

                          it made me smile... for we are certainly the class with more taste than means......

Have you really loved a woman ....

I do not know for sure if it was that summer that my little brother had fallen in love ... but when he came home for the vacations there was one song he played on and on and on....  till it filled his room and mine too... my room which was adjacent his ,... and soon enough it became one of our favourite songs.... 

sometime last week when memories of  college days floated back, along with it refreshed memories of our love for that Bryan Adam's song... and how its video had made me want to do a little Spanish dance and how i had swooned over its lyrics and had wished to meet and fall in love with a man who would hear my silent words, see my dreams in my eyes and love me unconditionally till the end of time..........
